Tamil actress and model Caroline Mariyath has been arrested by the police for prostitution. Her step-brother has also been arrested for aiding her in the sex racket.
Kollywood was jolted with the shock news of the arrest of the 22-year-old Caroline Mariyath when she was arrested from a five-star hotel at Viman Nagar in Maharashtra on Saturday night. A Social Security Cell team from the Crime Branch reportedly laid a trap by sending a decoy customer and Caroline Mariyath was consequently arrested. According to the police, she charged Rs. 3 lakh per hour from her customers.
Her step-brother Rajkumar was also arrested on the charges of forcing her into sex trade. The police is also on the lookout for Caroline’s stepfather, a model photographer, who they believe worked as a pimp for her.
According to police, Caroline Mariyath appears to have turned to prostitution to tide over the financial crunch that set in after three of her movies were delayed.
Caroline Mariyath has worked as a model in several advertisements. She is said to have worked in the Tamil films Rain and Wadachalam.
The police has charged Caroline and her brother under relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.
