After a gap of four years, Akshay Kumar is back with a family drama. His next titled Patiala House, which is the first big budget release of 2011; a film that releases globally this Friday, has AK playing an emotional character named Gattu.
It is also the first time that he's playing a cricketer. "I have been a keen follower of cricket and in this film I got to play the game. Patiala House is very special. I'm back to the genre of family drama after a long time. I want to do movies that people will love and this one has got its heart in the right place," says Akshay, who has also dabbled superbly in genres like action and comedy too.
Patiala House made by T-Series and People Tree Films, is essentially about a father-son relationship, and about coming to terms with one's destiny. Akki also informs us that he loved working with Anushka Sharma with whom he has been paired for the first time. "Anushka is a superb actor. She is extremely talented."
Director Nikhil Advani says, "I can guarantee that you will see a completely different Akshay Kumar." Producer Bhushan Kumar, who shares a strong bond with Akki, adds, "Along with showcasing Akshay in an emotional role, this film also has all the ingredients of a family entertainer. And a great music score."
