The Dallas Cowboys have confirmed Rob Ryan is joining their staff as defensive co-ordinator.
Ryan, son of former NFL head coach Buddy and twin brother of current New York Jets head coach Rex, agreed to take the role after an interview with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and head coach Jason Garrett.
The 48-year-old had been defensive co-ordinator of the Cleveland Browns for the past two seasons and also held the same position with the New England Patriots from 1997-99.
The Carolina Panthers, meanwhile, have also brought in a new defensive co-ordinator in the shape of Sean McDermott.
Less than a week after being fired from the same job with the Philadelphia Eagles, McDermott has been recruited by old friend Ron Rivera.
Rivera, who worked with McDermott for five years on Andy Reid's staff in Philadelphia, has replaced John Fox as head coach of the Panthers after they finished with a league-worst 2-14 record this season.
